Out in the field
Been trying to load images but the image thingy is not cooperating. Anyway, today's field trip went surprisingly well. Went with the marine ecology class to Wellington Point, a small peninsula that juts out into Moreton Bay. Had one false start because we were confused on the whereabouts to even begin our sampling.
But we learnt as we went along and finally got our steps figured out. It turned out that all the datasheets we had prepared beforehand (& the copies I made) were useless, the GPS units and compasses we had requested were also useless, the rough guide we had originally planned to follow (& that I understood) was out of the window. So basically things didn't go according to plan from the very beginning.. and I got confused as hell.
Thankfully this other guy who was in my group had a vague idea on what was supposed to happen. I guess in situations like this, you just have to stick with someone else who knows what's going on and let them be the boss of things. So when it finally worked out, I was left to be the scribe, the other guys carried the measuring tape and paced around to find our random plots in the ground.
It's all very complicated to even to attempt a verbal explanation on the methods. Don't want to think about the writing part yet. Yess..the image thingy is working now! Okay more photos to show off..
