Chinese New Year

I should update this thing I call a blog.

This is a long, overdue entry and I have to beg your pardon for keeping you out of the loop. I was out almost everyday since the start of Chinese New Year last week. The whole week was filled with house-to-house visits and reunion dinners. Nothing but food and noise.. lots of it. CNY is always fun and exciting in KL, and not to mention tiring!! By the way, there's only 1 week left before I leave the township of Subang Jaya to resume life in Brisbane as a student. It's been a good break and I absolutely deserved it. Nothing to gripe about, except that I'm dreading to be back on the hamster wheel again. 5 weeks packed with places, friends, dogs, family, and lots of talking and laughing. And Fran Fine.. gonna miss all of it.

I'll leave you with photos of my CNY celebration at my house last week.

Claudia (in green) used to be a curly head. She was the earliest guest to arrive.

Pink lions! Who's the lion tamer in charge here?

High school friends of SMK USJ 13

The people who made up my portion of the guest list. One or two couldn't show up but nevermind. I'm glad these people made it all the way!

Serene agonizes at the sound originating from my untuned piano of several years.

A basket load of Vitamin C in cute bite-sized chunks. A necessity when it comes to the high consumption of sugar-laden drinks, pineapple tarts and snacks during CNY.

Happy Ox year to you :-D

Agefuku

Dad took my brother and me out for dinner tonight.  It's been a while since we had time off together since dad's always caught up with work.  We had Japanese food for a change, in a restaurant served by Filipino waitresses.  How bizarre..but you know, in Malaysia everything also boleh one.  Anyhow lah.  The 3 of us used to eat at this Mexican joint called Las Carretas every time I returned for summer, but tonight we were game for something new in Agefuku.

I had sashimi, my brother had unagi and my dad ordered something similar to ikan bakar.  It was a nice evening out.  After dinner, the waitress at the door told us that we could draw 5 angpows from a box to see if we were lucky enough to win something.  5 chances to draw and nothing showed up...how can?

I'm gonna go cut my hair tomorrow and hopefully NOT come back with something radically different.

I'm looking forward to this weekend :-)

Gnite!

Hello 2009

Yay, new template (and the loss of all my links) ! I didn't get to wish everyone a happy new year in my previous post, so here goes... Happy 2009! I've always repeated that phrase "Time flies" and it has become so old to me. Right? Like, what's new? It's just a realization that comes after every good event, every good year, every birthday gone past..that we're just getting older. Not necessarily better, just older.

2008 was tough, I have to say. I grew as a 21 year old..maybe not enough as I should have. It was a great year for meeting friends. And traveling. And animals. I got rid of certain phobias, shaken off fears with the help of friends. Right now I can't grasp on to a single event that stood out for me in 2008. Everything is spinning too fast on this merry-go-round.

Though I want to be thankful for the people I've come across, young and old, the new and familiar. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me, to laugh with me, to sing for me, to cook with me, to watch stars and to play in the sprinklers with me. You know who you are. We can't remake memories, so it's just best for me to create new ones with you.

I haven't bothered with resolutions. Maybe add one or two. Last year's list still needs reviewing.
